"Painting is like an act of magic, a dance of energy, frequency and vibration. I trace the shapes from the textures I paint on; the swirls on wood panels, the tooth of paper; I use the method of automatic drawing, a method developed by the Surrealists, to coax out whatever 'spirits' lie within the material, and develop them accordingly. Working quickly in this way, the brush strokes capture clandestine figures, in a state of flux. Hidden faces suddenly appear out of darkness, shapes morph, and disappear, suggesting the transitory nature of time, and the amorphous nature of reality. A cast of dancing animals, spirits and hybrid creatures emerge from the thicket. Exploring the metaphysical aspects to nature, these creatures have come together to tell a story, to share their ancient mythos. These are conversations in shades of gold, the deep reds and ochres of scorched earth, and centuries under the star filled skies. The paintings blur the line between reality and imagination, and invite viewer to a hidden world, that you don't usually get to see." continue to the website
